Week # 10

Week # 10
October 13-18, 2014
“No Side Glancing”

My Accomplishment

From Monday to Wednesday, I was able to executed 7 lessons. My cooperating teacher tasked me to make 2 lesson plans with different topics per day since it was their review for 2nd Quarter Periodical Exams. Thursday and Friday was the examination days of the secondary so I accompanied the adviser of IV- Patience Ma’am Tango in proctoring the class. I was also checked their quiz papers and recorded them.

My Significant Experiences

My most significant experience this week was when I proctored IV-Patience without my cooperating teacher since she was absent on Thursday. My cooperating teacher text me to help in proctoring IV-Patience with their adviser, Ma’am Tango. As we entered the classroom, Ma’am Tango got angry because the chair was not yet arranged properly and it was so noisy. It’s seems that they were not ready for their exam. The 10 students took their exam outside the classroom because the space inside was not enough. When we distributed their test papers, they were all reacted that their exam is difficult without really reading the content first. So Ma’am Tango again commented on their reactions and she announced that she will give minus to those students who are noisy. As I went around the room, I saw this gentlemen looking at the paper of the person next to her and he’s copying her answer so I warned him that I will give him minus if he still copying the answer of his classmate. I asked the students to mind their own paper and no side glancing as they take their exams. Thus, they were all kept quiet until they finished their exam because they were scared to get minus in their exam.

My Insights

As a teacher, we are dealing with different students especially in Baguio City National High School who have diversities of students. A student will never learn something if his/her teacher don’t correct their mistakes and most especially their behaviors. As the saying goes “A teacher takes a hand, opens a mind, touches a heart, and shapes the future of his/her students.

Problem

My problem is still on classroom management. Some students are not listening during class discussion and they also make their assignments on other subjects during my class.

Solution

Before I start my lesson, I always tell and remind my students to keep away the things on their desk that are not related to my subject. I also let the noisy people stand and give their insights about our discussion if they are noisy either way, I let them seat in front to minimize their noise.

Goals for Next Week

My goals for next week is to be able to finish my 30 executed lesson plans and to complete the 40 required hours in my extension at the BCNHS library.
