Week # 8
September
29-30 and October 1-3, 2014
“Be
Confident and Strong ”
My Accomplishments
This week I was able to
accomplished 2 rated lessons from my new cooperating teacher, Ma’am Catherine
Ngalob and one rated demo from my SI, Ma’am Shin but Sir Villiam Ambong was the
one who observed me during my demo teaching. I executed my one rated demo with
Sir Ambong in grade 9- Eloquence, grade 9-Friendship, grade 9-Honor, and grade
9-Love. Also, I executed my 2 lessons in IV-Patriotism, IV-Reliability, and
IV-Patience.
My Significant Experiences
The most
significant experience in this week was when I was observed and rated by Sir
Ambong on September 30 (Tuesday). That day was full of mixed emotions, and it
was the most stressful day. As I entered my class, I was surprised because the
classroom was well organized in such a way that I didn’t see pieces of litter
under the students’ chairs or in the aisle. I tried to relax myself and I just
pretend or imagined that Sir Ambong was not in the classroom to observe me. I
was happy because my students were very active in reciting during our class
discussion they were really listening and cooperating during that time.
In addition,
during this week, we had some sort of adjustments about the new student
teachers from University of Baguio. I was transferred to Fourth year level
because one of the student teacher of UB was assigned in grade 9 and she has to
be with my cooperating teacher. After our conversation about the sudden
shifting, Ma’am Langgas, who is the Head Teacher of English, introduced me to
my new Cooperating Teacher who is Ma’am Catherine Ngalob and I’m happy that my
cooperating teacher was approachable and kind. So, I challenged myself to do my
best in teaching my new students, the fourth year students.
My Insights
I realized that I have to be
more confident and strong in dealing with circumstances. It was difficult to
adjust to a new environment but I know everything has a purpose as they say
“All is Well”.
Problems
My new Cooperating teacher told
me that there’s this section that were really passive when it comes to
participation. She told me that I would think of a strategy on how to cater
their needs and to maximize their participation during class discussion. I
found this as a problem because I need to adjust and need to consider in my
lessons that they are a fourth year students now.
Solutions
I observed the 3 sections that I
handled which are: IV-Patriotism, IV-Reliability and IV-Patience so that at
least I will have an idea about their behaviors especially the classroom
management. As I executed my lessons to my classes, I employed strategy to at
least maximize their participation. I grouped them during activities and I
called them one by one every time I asked a questions.
Goals for Next Week
My goals for
next week are to execute 5 or more lessons. I will be making also my
Instructional materials for my lesson next week.
